Every year the principal of Oryol Gymnasium received letters from various higher education establishments requesting to inform graduates on conditions of their enrollment because the Gymnasium enjoyed high reputation. A.P. Kiselyov awarded with a golden medal for his excellent study and good conduct chose the best higher education establishment of that time – St. Petersburg University .
